The Great CNY Treasure! Hunt

Take a treasure hunting tour of Syracuse, New York with the Great CNY Treasure! Hunt. There are nine clues leading to nine locations throughout the city. You may also use a GPS receiver to find each location with the coordinates included with the clues. This treasure hunt was part of a contest presented by the MOST and NewsChannel 9 WSYR. The contest ended on December 3, 2006 but you may still hunt for all of the clues and answer the questions. The contest winner was John Reardanz of Liverpool, NY. John won a $200 gift certificate to Best Buy.

Your family will really dig this!  The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (The MOST) and NewsChannel 9 WSYR present "The Great CNY Treasure! Hunt"!  It's a community-wide search for hidden clues, celebrating the world premier exhibit "Treasure!" now at the MOST.

We'll release nine (9) clues in all before Thanksgiving...three (3) clues each Wednesday (November 8th, 15th and 22nd).

Each clue will take you to a Syracuse landmark, where you'll find answers to the questions posed.  Once you've answered each of the questions, fill in the entry sheet and drop it off at the MOST in Armory Square.  You'll be eligible for a drawing for a $200 Gift Certificate to Best Buy!

Treasure! is an educational and entertaining exhibit that prompts visitors to consider: What is treasure?  Who hunts for treasure?  Why do they hunt treasure?  How do people hunt for treasure?  What do YOU treasure?

The visitors will explore these questions and take part in their own treasure hunt within the exhibit!

Located at 500 South Franklin St in Syracuse's historic Armory Square, the MOST is open 11am to 5pm Wednesdays through Sundays, with extended IMAX® hours Saturday evenings.  Get more information at www.most.org.

“THE GREAT CNY TREASURE! HUNT”
OFFICIAL RULES (11/06) 

   

The Museum of Science & Technology and 9wsyr.com are holding a community-wide Treasure Hunt, to celebrate the new exhibit “Treasure!” at the MOST.   Each Wednesday for three weeks, 9wsyr.com will release a new set of clues.  Families can follow the clues around town and find answers to the Treasure Hunt puzzle at each location.  Once they find all nine answers, they can fill out an official entry form and enter in a prize drawing.

 

The Treasure Hunt will include nine locations in all.   There are two ways to find each location, by following traditional word clues or by using Global Positioning System ( GPS ) coordinates.  And at each location, participants will find the answer to the question posed.  New clues will be revealed on 9wsyr.com each Wednesday, November 8^th, 15^th and 22^nd, 2006, before noon . 

 

Winner/s will be selected by a random drawing.  The grand prize is a $200 gift certificate to Best Buy.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to go on the Treasure Hunt.  Children should be accompanied by an adult.  Entrants in the raffle drawing must be 18 years of age or older.

Completed official entry forms must be dropped off at the secret final location on the Treasure Hunt by the deadline (Sunday, December 3, 2006 , 5pm ) to be eligible for the raffle. Incomplete or late forms will not be eligible for prizes.

A list of winners will be available on the contest page of 9wsyr.com by Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 .

All locations in the Treasure Hunt are located in publicly accessible locations. No trespassing is required. Do not break any local laws. Leave no trace. Take only photographs and notes.

The Museum of Science & Technology, NRG! Exhibits, and WSYR-TV assume no liability for actions taken by participants during the course of the treasure hunt. Participate at your own risk.

Employees and immediate family members of The Museum of Science & Technology, NRG! Exhibits, or WSYR-TV employees, and employees of participating contest sponsors are not eligible to win.

Winners must accept complete terms of the contest to receive prize package.  If they choose not to accept complete terms of the contest, another winner may be selected.

Winners are responsible for any taxes and/or fees, and all such additional costs that may be incurred, and release all liability of prize dysfunction or expiration from The Museum of Science & Technology, NRG! Exhibits, and WSYR-TV.  All prizes valued over $100 will require the winner to fill out a W-9 tax form.

Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for WSYR-TV and the Museum of Science & Technology to use winner’s name, voice, and/or likeness for promotional purposes, over the air, on the internet and in other uses.  Winner also understands that there will be no reimbursement for use of this footage and that WSYR-TV retains all rights to this material.
